Liochatan

Basic Information

Anatomy

Liochatan has the head of a lion, the body of a brown bear, and the tail of a leopard. The liochatan's fur is brown. Although spotting on the body is unusual, a liochatan's tail is spotted. Beginning at the end closest to the body the spots change from small to large spots resulting in a different color at the tip of the tale. As a Liochatan ages, its fur darkens until it has reached adulthood when it is a medium brown, in the case of a female. A male's fur continues to darken as it ages if it is healthy. If it is or becomes unhealthy the fur will stop darkening.

Additional Information

Domestication

In some areas of the lower Narog Hills, the Liochatan has been domesticated. These liochatan can no longer fend for themselves and if released into the wild would quickly starve or be eaten by another animal. There is some debate in academic circles concerning whether or not this domesticated liochatan is still a liochatan. Although they do share some physical similarities, they are quite different from the wild liochatans. Their behavior, intelligence, and attitude are distinctly different from those of their wild counterparts as well. This debate has yet to be settled.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Although there is a small market for the fur and teeth of the liochatan, they are so dangerous that few would dare attempt to kill one.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The liochatan has all the sensory abilities of a lion, the hibernation abilities of a bear, and as light on its feet as a leopard. In addition to these abilities, liochatan can manipulate air. Typically, it uses this ability to keep it from falling from deadly heights but it can be used to reach prey. This ability is not the same as flying, it is more like walking on an invisible flight of stairs.
