Threshold - Frontbeing
NAME:
Threshold or ThreshPRONOUNS:
it/itsGENDER IDENTITY:
gender fuck/flux/fluid - It considers itself mostly genderless or ideally 'monster gender'. This is both commentary on gender and an embracing of its nature.STAGE PERSONA:
Thresh presents itself as a dark messianic or deific being on stage, leading its followers to further and further heights of debauchery and self-discovery. Its vox-box allows it to attain vocal ranges both masculine and feminine and beyond. It uses this to great effect in certain songs, staging dialogs between different beings and singing in specific voices for the characters in the ever growing Liminal Face mythology. Thresh is never seen in the same costume twice, sometimes going so far as to do wardrobe changes mid-concert to represent the themes of the show. Thresh contributes a sense of constant flux and change to the BD mix. Fans can feel the never-still, constantly changing sense of no-self that is the central pillar of Thresh's personality. There is a sense of unreality and sexuality to everything Thresh does - a being experiencing itself changing and fucking and dying in front of itself, a perpetually hatching cocoon. LF fans are frequently moved to change(name, style, gender, orientation, career, whatever they've been avoiding) after just one show. If there is a theme at all to the cult of Thresh, it is change. Thresh deliberately presents a mysterious, mythic version of itself and always makes a point to 'banter' with the crowd in character (as if there were an 'out of character), peppering in details to further grow the myth and mystery around itself and the band. Thresh, with the help of its bandmates and other collaborators (Chevy Shevchenko, amongst others), pioneered the BD gestalt concert format. It constantly tweaks the 'mix' to provide unique experiences every show.Instrument(s):
