Crystalier
Crystaliers are among the most vital professions for most of the human population of Casimira, particularly in Ismena. Despite this, they often cannot do magic themselves and are looked down on as nothing but the hired labor to allow the mages to do the greater work of making sure crops are bountiful and sickness is healed.
Career
Qualifications
In order to become a Crystalier, one must be trained in how to feel for the magic of the crystals. Most often this means having a very minor aptitude for magic, but more than that and the Mage Council (among others) would prefer to train them as a mage instead. Since most of the population has at least a very minor aptitude for magic, training is the only thing standing in the average person's way to becoming a Crystalier.
Payment & Reimbursement
Crystaliers are paid based on the type and rarity of the crystals they collect, leading to more danger equaling potentially increased pay. However, depending on the area, one could go for months without finding a single crystal and therefore having no income for that time.
Other Benefits
The primary benefit to Crystaliers is that they often are able to exchange their finds for the newest spells and technology to ease their families' lives. This is usually at a much reduced rate as a supplier of the craft and many families would not survive through the winter and the long months with no new crystal finds without this exchange.
Perception
Purpose
The primary purpose of a Crystalier is to obtain crystals wherever they can be found and deliver them to the mages who need them. This can mean extensive travel to different countries and climates and trade among various societies.
Social Status
Crystaliers are considered to have relatively low social status, as they are mere suppliers of the greater magical craft. However, they can often climb the ladder of success throughout generations depending on the crystals they find and what money can buy them in terms of perception and standing.
Operations
Dangers & Hazards
The hazards of this profession primarily come from the type of crystal and the method used to obtain them. For example, fire crystals are most abundant in active volcanoes, which are immensely dangerous to the unprepared.

Legality
While the profession itself is legal across all of Casimira, the methods of obtaining the crystals they seek are not always legal. It is up to the individual whether to pursue illegal methods, but it is often considered high risk and high reward, as many mages will not accept crystals that obviously come from areas that the Crystalier should not have been in.
