Amukreen

“We are the first people, and when the other races have come and gone, we will be the last people.”

The children of Khapri-Amun, and the denizens of Jhal’Qerzaan, the Eternal Empire. The Amukreen are a race of sentient insects, most of which have a humanoid shape.
They are a reclusive race which keeps behind Lorath’s Wall. Believing deeply in a prophetic stone known as the “Absolute Record”, the Amukreen do not possess the ambitions of other peoples. Instead they advance themselves while they await the prophesied time of the return of their god. What appears to be their incursions against Lorath’s Wall every few years is actually a form of population control, pruning their weak so that when their chosen time comes they are at their strongest.
The Amukreen posses a matriarchal, heavily caste-based society. ‘Men’ are generally considered fodder and eventual food for their mates. There is however a caste of male Amukreen that keep the female rulers in check, the Hm’Netjer.
An adventuring Amukreen is typically an outcast, a rebel against their heavily structured society, and the oppressive order imposed by adherence to the Absolute Record. There are however, cases of scholar-priests who go about recording the state of the world, or the agent of various sects.
