Castores, a barren wasteland of a world. It is said that Castores was once a beautiful world of peace and prosperity. That it had four seasons in a year. That its people did not kill each other over water and food. That children went to schools instead of starving in the streets. It is said it was a world worth fighting for. However, there came an outside force known only as the “Invaders”. Beings of dark and twisted artifice, the Invaders forced the peoples of Castores to steel themselves against the realities of war. In desperation to drive the Invaders back, people summoned forth foul demons to aid them. However, the demons were just as destructive as the Invaders themselves. As a result, much of Castores’ surface was devastated, leaving only barren ruins in its wake. The great Fey Lords of the Seasonal Courts, ageless masters of the arcane and primal magicks, were able to preserve a portion of the world. While they tried to share their sanctuaries for a time, the mortal races were wasteful and destructive, thus the Courts decided to banish their once welcome refugees, thus the Fey Wars began. Over time, many warlords have rallied the people, but time and time again the Fey have pushed back the tide and watched as the empires of their short-lived enemies crumbled into dust. In such a desolate world, the people cling to beings of power, be they Dragons, Fey Lords, Gods, Giants, or even Demons. However, no matter how benevolent the entity, they cannot keep everyone safe and warm. That, is where heroes come in.
