A Dreamlike Encounter

Dream Stags are a magical subspecies of deer, that are encountered near settlements in forests. When people think "Dream Stag", they often frown, since a run in would always either mean involuntary manual labour, or loss of posessions.

Magestic Appearance

Dream Stags are beautiful creatures, with fur as soft and petable as a house cat and horns that could be mistaken as tree roots, wouldn't they grow out of the stags head. Once the critter spots you, and the horns start its signature dream glow, it's already too late to run, and the stag has found its food for the week.

A Loyal Servant

Although an encounter with a Dream Stag is never deadly or even scary, it can last up to several days. Once spotted, it throws the victim in a trance, in which free will is locked away, as they become a gathering servant for the stag. For the coming day(s), the victim wanders around, gathering berries, fruits and weeds to feed to the Dream Stag. Should there be no imminent food, the victim would turn to its own stockpile to provide the creature bread and other delicousness.

It was a perfect world, one where I was reunited with my wife, harvesting fruits together, feeding the dogs. Actually, thinking about it, I wish i could go back to that place once more.

Dream Stags Life

Dream Stags, aside from enslaving people, live a normal life with a normal family, which they provide for. They themselves are rather lazy, hence the need for external food gatherers. The adult stags mostly lay around, sleep and while doing so, radiating a faint aura from their horns, signalling their magical recharging. Would a Stag be denied its sleep, the spell cast on the dreaming people would fade. The baby stags are often seen running around, playing with each other, or even other animals. It is observed that in the wild, dream stags are actually pretty friendly. In some cases, they have even befriended civilians.
