Automaton
Beings of Steel and Runes
The Automaton were a step above golems, as they possessed artifical intelligence turned into true life. Originally, Automaton were a creation of the Age of Enlightenment, but during the War of the Deities the knowledge of their existence, as well as the ability to create them were lost. Many individuals kept a hold of this information though, but held it for themselves, not sharing it with the world. The original Automaton were made for labor, protection, or company purposes, but evolved into their own people, with their own souls.
Automaton of the World
Automaton are considered to be common place within Cavas, as the influx of lost or missing Automatons from Eladria ended up with a large Cavasian population. Many of these beings have become integrated in life, and have been called a sapient species in several countries, meaning they have lawful rights and can become citizens.
As of 1000 Arcane, a woman tinkerer by the name of Velvian Karrie rediscovered how to create Automaton on her own, and brought with it what some argue was the Era of Science.
