The Celestial Forge

Purpose / Function

The Former abode of the 12 Gods. The Celestial Forge was were Gods once forged planets, species, and all manner of creations.   Former Base of Planetary Operations for Merlin and the Riftwalker's cosmic wide re-ordering of the planets.   Currently vacant, drifting through space, calling out to individuals of great power.

Alterations

When the Celestial Forge was left by the Gods and passed into Merlin's hands, the Celestial Forge turned from being a demi plane of existence, with near limitless physical spaces to a physical and limited space. It became an enormous citadel hidden within a large obsidian rock floating within the nebulous mist of space. Twelve large rooms still remained, remnants of the Gods domains. The sanctum now a large staging area for Planetary operations and for Magical gates knowns as Rifts through which the Riftwalkers would pass through to their next targeted worlds. Large living quarters, workshops, amenities, and food growing stations filled the great structure.

Architecture

The only accounts of the Celestial Forge come from the Riftwalkers themselves. The Celestial Forge from an external view would appear as a large and elongated asteroid, a towering fortress of black, cold stone soaring through the depths of space. The architecture within was a mixture of pure white marbled stone and other worldly opulence within the sanctum and lifeless steel grey metals and moulded earth in the areas excavated and occupied by the Riftwalkers.   For some Riftwalkers the Celestial Forge was a place of great calm, beauty, connection with a purer and higher power. For others it was a prison, a structure that heralded death, destruction and ultimately pacification of the universe

History

The Celestial Forge was originally created by the 12 Gods as their means of forging the cosmos. It was here that the Gods dwelt in their separate planes, working on their projects tirelessly. The Gods joining each other in the main sanctum only once all had completed their tasks for the birth of a new world. It was here in the Celestial Forge, where the planets were forged; Where all aspects of existence were formed, and through their power of Magic, ultimately where life was then breathed into each planet and creature.     The purpose of the forge changed drastically when the great human wizard from Earth, Merlin, entered the Celestial Forge using power the Gods thought only available to themselves. This greatly angered and frightened the Gods. The Gods at the behest of their cosmic father, Chaos, decided to leave the Celestial Forge and their project behind. The Gods left to another realm of existence to start a new project. Thus ownership of the Celestial Forge fell under Merlin.   Merlin then used the Celestial Forge as a base of operations for his cosmos wide campaign of returning all planets to their default states, before the Gods breathed life into them, a magic-less state. Merlin believed this would bring the Gods back and he would be atoned for his mistake and finally granted the death he craved. Merlin recruited powerful individuals from multiple worlds to form the Organization known as the Riftwalkers. It was here, The Celestial Forge, that the Rifwalkers would call home for nearly 800 years until the great sundering during the Riftwalker civil war.   The Celestial Forge did not survive the conflict unscathed and now drifts through space as a silent tomb, a beacon of great hope or great despair.
