Arcipentur
Arcipentur is an ancient but modern city. Part of a Anju-Va Megapolis of Arquia. The city is one of the most populous on the Trotan homeworld. Arcipentur is built around a strait between the Banta mainland and the large island of Geahu. The city has stood since Arquia's Iron Age. It's longevity is in part because of its great positioning as a fishing and trade port, but also because it is situated in a strategic military position.
The city has gone through many names, but Arcipentur is the longest lasting name. Named after a species of migratory whale that often passes through the strait, the city represents calm in a constantly changing world.
For over a thousand years, the city was primarily indulged in fishing and the exportation of resources such as wood and iron. Sailing ships often traveled through the strait to avoid the open ocean. The cities economic power grew slowly over a thousand years. Being built up quickly only to be brought down by an enemy four times as quickly as it rose. In modern times the city became more stable. It continued to be a major fishery, but also became a major transoceanic hub. Lots of wealth flowing in and out of the continent of Banta came through the city of Arcipentur. During the era of space exploration, Arcipentur became a major banking center for not just Arquia, but also its moon Ertuno. It was also in a strategic location for a spaceport. Situated near the equator, the city was in a great location to serve incoming and outgoing material shuttles and drops. Instead of shipping raw or refined materials to the surface, it was often easier to simply drop them into the ocean for pickup. Arcipentur was in a good position being within range of a Moreolatic Ocean drop zone.
