Focus

Worldemmmmbeeeeeer raaaaaah! This is my second year of using World Anvil, and thus this is my second Worldember. Last year, I had a different focus. On my original world, the Quadriarma Union, was made to focus on a single faction. Since then, the scope of the setting expanded greatly and a new world had to be created. There is a lot more to do this time around. Recently, I have been focusing on setting the most influential technology of the Celestial Grove in stone. And boy is there still a lot to do. Energy is still plentiful in my mind, and in the setting there is copious amounts of energy too. I have only a couple articles about engine tech and still fewer articles on other energy sources, so that is what my focus will be. ✨Energy ✨.   Actually, I should narrow that focus in a bit. Energy is very broad. I plan on completing articles with regards to spacecraft energy systems. That would include, but is not limited to: propulsion, power plant, heat reclamation, and storage. For propulsion, I have already written articles about inertial confinement and fusion jet propulsion, which leaves perdalene rockets and antimatter engines to recieve attention. Power plant tech doesn't have anything yet, but I can't remember if heat reclamation does. I know for sure storage solutions just don't exist yet. However, their templates exist offsite.

Mini-Meta

Scope

Ondo recommends keeping the scope small... unfortunately, nah. For a near/far future society, energy is absolutely necessary. Heck, how we harness the energy of angry atoms and molecules defines the path we take as a civilization. If the steam engine was never made, all our modern tech would never exist. How I design the energy tech now not only defines the present, but also the past and the future. Up to a certain point in either direction that is. There are constants. Regardless, the focus of this year's Worldember will impact how the Celestial Grove functions and the geopolitical landscape.

Theme and Mood

Hard to place a theme on this much technology. Obviously, it is futuristic and at least plausible in real life as instilled by the world's genre. Admittedly, this sort of worldbuilding might be mundane to the average person, but this technology both figuratively and literally conveys power. They convey technological might, economic prowess, and a nations ability to secure its resources. A bit exciting, isn't it? It is supposed to be! You are riding on a ship powered by what is essentially a mini sun being propelled by a stream of matter so powerful that it can tear apart atomic nuclei, and if all that fails, you have enough energy stored in batteries to violently tear the ship in half... maybe a bit too much excitement. But hey, if people enjoy loud engines, then I can too but with futuristic spacecraft tech.

Goals

Uuh... science? The overarching motivation/goal is to have general knowledge of anything because I can't keep attention on a subject for long enough to actually become very proficient in it. I want to get the most important bits of technology for the current focus period - an undefined time period where all the species of the Celestial Grove are aware of each other. There is, of course, the 10,000 word goal this Worldember season. I am not particularily good at organizing or even recognizing goals. I just kind of do stuff.

Inspiration

A lot of inspiration comes from real life concepts but with the flashy scifi flare. Although, the ideas regarding the fusion jet, antimatter engines, and even photon sails actually come from Avatar's Interstellar Vehicles over the real life propulsion concepts. It just so happened that those spacecraft were very realistic. They also have a really cool accel/deccel sequence. Flashy lights! Unfortunately, energy production and storage tech is a bit less interesting in the inspiration department. Just more experimental technology from our world but way better in the Celestial Grove.

Homepage

Homepage? Unfortunately declared missing in action. I haven't bothered to setup a world introduction because the universe has only just hatched and is only now just beginning to open its eyes. Complexity and coherency are only just beginning to show in what few articles I have published. Should get around to creating a proper homepage after the event. Then there will be more to talk about. (And time to pretty up.)   I should also note, for myself, that I was sharing articles as I wrote them with an audience that would be interested in the individual articles themselves over the world itself. If I want to expand to audiences, like the casual World Anvil reader, a properly setup homepage is a must. I plan on doing an elevator pitch first of all. I also plan on utilizing the custom content sections for the first time to link other stuff. An extended introduction would be good. I could also link alphabetized article lists for species, nations, and locations. Could also replace locations with technology because, if you are to look at species and nations, you are bound to find locations linked in both categories.
