Dyria's Pit

It's easy not to see the forest for the trees if the trees are in fact tentacle-lined bio-constructs.   ~ Ore-Queen Sunacluv
Heartland of the Eleventh Reik and adopted homeland of the At-Korvian, Dyria's Pit is a vast crater landscape located in the northern part of Cenorad past the titanic Skycrown Mountains.   The area is widely known for its literally otherwordly ecosystem, whose exotic beauty and eye-straining richness in color is second only to the polluted swamplands of The Corelands.

Fauna & Flora

Dyria's Pit is fully covered by a total of eleven vastly different alien woodlands -also known as the Eleven Forests-, which are composed of countless strange and bizarre bio-organic constructs that at least somewhat resemble various types of seafood.   While these forests might at the first glance appear just as if not even more wild and untamed as any other natural woodland, they are in truth part of a highly complex and incredibly advanced bio-organic factory complex, which produces all the food, weapon and everyday items required by the Eleventh Reik.

History

Land of Iron

The land that would later become Dyria's Pit was originally the homeland of the Ikona, which used to call it "The Land of Shattered Stars", due to the numerous shimmering meteor fragments that could be found all over the region.   The meteoric iron extracted from these meteors played a very important role within the early history of the Ikona, as its usage by future Ore-Queen Sunacluv lead to the outbreak of the first Ikona civil war and the subsequent establishment of the Ore Kingdom.

Crash, Clean and Terraform

When the At-Korvian arrived in Cenorad during the so-called The Return, their usage of the Crawling Passage inadvertently caused severe damage to the entire region, as the land was racked by storms of eldritch energies and showers of cosmic debris.   When the dust had settled very little of the original landscape had been left untouched by their destructive arrival, which forced to At-Korvian to engage in a century-long cleanup procedure to the region from the side effects of the D'zag.   Following the completion of this decontamination process, the At-Korvian then invested yet a couple more centuries into an extensive terraforming process, called the Pargi Flar ("Consolidation of Flowers"), in order to adjust the appearance their new home country to their alien needs.

Hole of Concord

Who or what is a Dyria and why does it own a pit?
Despite sounding like the name of a person the word Dyria is merely an antiquated term for "Harmony" in the language of the At-Korvian.   This, in turn, means that Dyria's Pit stands for nothing else than "Harmony's Pit" or "Pit of Harmony".

Changing Forest

The Forests is one with me and I am one with the Forest.   ~ Juhen'ne, Weo'fa of Bu Arbun
Given the At-Korvian's mastery over their bio-organic technology, they are able to rapidly change and fine-tune the exact composition of the Eleven Forests in order to adapt their biological production to newly emerging requirements.
