I really, really enjoy the trope you've subverted here. In so many fantasy settings, it's always the "barbarians" who scoffs at civilization for being weak and soft (thanks to Conan, probably). But yeah, that shit ain't easy - having the types who'd typically be scoffing along with Conan turn the complete opposte reaction it just *great* :D
That opening quote really sets the tone for this article. What a powerful introduction to the Eddali.
I will also admit, having recently rewatched the Netflix Witcher series, it reminds me a bit of Queen Calanthe... Who would likely be more comfortable leading a pack of Eddali now that I think about it.
The whole article was a wonderful read. I can tell the thought you put into these people and it comes through beautifully throughout. Very well done.

Hey SolarCat, thank you for all the praise for the article and I am thrilled to hear that enjoyed reading it :D
Also, I can certainly see Queen Calanthe as a pack leader, though then she likely couldn't be "friends" with Geralt anyone given that the Eddali certainly would be classified as monsters in the Witcher universe :p
That's certainly true, I forgot just how much she "likes" Geralt :D
Also, now that I think about it if her kingdom was an Eddali pack-nation Nilfguard would likely have a very VERY bad day the moment they decided to attack it.
This is such a fascinating species. I love the fact their culture is basically a weird reinterpretation of others' cultures. The thing about violins often being called 'violence' tickled me. :)
Hey Emy, happy to hear that you liked the article and the "violin" joke :D
Fun Fact; in my head, I summarized the whole concept of the Eddali somewhat like this:
"Wolf-Men trying to LARP as ancient Romans but all they have is a grade school Latin book that has been google translated to hell and back."
This is a great twist on barbarianism and Cargo cults. Well thought out and fascinating creatures and culture mish-mash. I can just see someone sent as "embassy" to a tribe and having to fight their way up the tribe to determine what status the ambassador should have.
These seem like fun to work with, or fight alongside of! Just gotta make sure you understand their culture well enough to not piss them off first. o,o

Given that subverting tropes -and throwing them in the blender- is a key pillar of Cenorad, I am very happy to hear that Q :D
