Velvet Star
That...thing...is many things, but it most definitely is not a star. The only reason why I am still calling it one is because I am pretty sure that it is STARING at us.The so-called "Velvet Star" is by far one of the weirdest astronomical objects that populate the night sky above Cenorad. Despite being frequently called a star, it actually has far more in common with a common comet. Firstly, the Velvet Star is not a blazing ball of flaming plasma, but rather a roughly spherical object made from rock and ice. Secondly, it is also a lot smaller than even the tiniest of stars, with its size being estimated to be not much larger than a medium-sized island. Given that its orbit is also quite close to Cenorad, these rather comet-like properties are truly a fortunate stroke of fate, as otherwise, its passing would have truly cataclysmic effects for Cenorad's inhabitants. Yet unlike a less bizarre space rock, the Velvet Star does emit its own light instead of merely reflecting the light of an actual star. The light emitted by the Velvet Star is usually dark-purple in coloration and frequently pulses with a frequency of roughly one pule per minute. Apart from these light pulses, multiple bursts of greenish light can occasionally be seen on the Star's surface. Its flight behavior also notably differs from that of a regular comet as instead of following a regular orbit the Velvet Star's movement path is incredibly erratic and irregular, almost as if it were frantically searching for something or...someone.
Fauna & Flora
Velvet is the fabric of kings and queens, but which ruler lays claim to the Velvet Star? I will tell you...Despite being permanently exposed to the unforgiving vacuum of space there exists actual life upon the surface...or at least that is what certain storytellers want one to believe. Until someone figures out a method to safely travel to the Velvet Star, or if its cryptic inhabitants decide to pay the surface of Cenorad a visit, this mystery will likely never be solved.

Alternative Name(s)
Ru'Gu'Al ("Lion's Heart"), Velvet Wanderer, Seeking Comet
Type
Planetoid / Moon
A little Piece from Heaven
Stone shouldn't behave like this.Every fifty-five years the Velvet Star will come frighteningly close to Cenorad, with its surface outright scratching alongside the outer parts of Cenorad's atmosphere. During this maneuver, fragments from the comet's surface will be ripped off by the resulting friction and tumble towards the planet below. When touched most of these fragments -in spite of their rocky appearance- will feel similar to a shred of velvet, which is the primary reason for the Star's common name. The few remaining fragments instead possess an almost fur-like texture on their surface and are also usually warm to the touch.

Ooooooooo, cool idea! This "star" is very mysterious haha. I want to know what it is, and what it's searching for. And what it's made of! I think I noticed a typo in the sidebar! "Every fifty-five years the Velvet Star will come firgthently close Cenorad" Frighteningly, I assume? Cool article here Sloqush :D
Happy to hear you liked it :D I also took care of the typo, thanks again for pointing it out. It sadly will be quite some time before I can go into more detail about the "Star"'s nature, as I first have to iron out the lore of various factions, species, and one magic system, which are all linked with it. All that I can say for now is that the "Star" is not a natural celestial body, but rather one that was created.
