Contium Selis

Contium Selis is a viral infection that can affect nearly every race. Mild symptoms of Contium Selis include
  • Persistent Cough
  • Lethargy
  • Magical Feebleness
  • Sneezing
  • Congestion
  • Headache
  • Mild Fever
  • Nausea
  • Sore Throat
  • Muscle Soreness
Severe symptoms of Contium Selis include
  • High Fever
  • Vomiting Blood
  • Ragged Breathing
  • Confusion
  • Heart Palpitations
  • Loss of Blood Flow to Extremities
  • Inability to Stay Awake
  • High Resistance to Magical Intervention
While most will have mild symptoms that can be managed with medicine or magic, those that do develop severe symptoms only have a 20% chance of survival if not met with immediate intense intervention. Even then, their odds only improve by about 5%.   Mild symptoms of Contium Selis will normally last no longer than a week or so and leave no lasting effects (if treated), though severe symptoms often escalate rapidly once they start. Typically, after the first sign of severe symptoms, it only takes one or two weeks for death to occur. It is currently unknown the exact effects Contium Selis causes on the body to create these dramatic symptoms, and as such, there is no cure. The elderly and otherwise unhealthy have a higher chance of developing severe symptoms.   Contium Selis was the primary disease affecting the Northern Hemisphere during The Equalizing Outbreak from 431-437 TGE which, notably, caused the death of King Phillip Heret Ragnarsson III and Queen Lucilla Sanoria-Fellent Ragnarsson of Cadax in 436 TGE.
