The Iceglade War
The Iceglade War was a devastating conflict that lasted for nearly a decade, beginning in the year 1041. It was a struggle for power and control between the northern lords, led by Lord Orth Iceglade, and the southern lords. The northern lords believed that the division among the human fiefdoms put them at risk and sought to unite humanity under their rule. The southern lords, on the other hand, prioritized the defense of their own borders and territories.
One of the key players in the war was Havi Neathergleam, a powerful court wizard who served one of the southern lords. She was determined to find a way to turn the tide of the war in her lord's favor. In her search for a powerful weapon, she discovered a small portal located over the elvish village of Eshenima.
With the help of the villagers, Havi built a tower to expand the portal, creating the Eshenima Zenith. Through the portal, she could see the full cosmos, the weave of domains, and the threads connecting them together. But as she gazed into the portal, she realized that something or someone was also watching her from the other side.
The Citywatch of Atlas soon reported a dark spectre flying south, and the village of Eshenima was found in ruins, with many of the villagers changed into devilish forms. The elves, seeing this as the true nature of humanity, formed an alliance with the Mission of Thoelirn to create the Irenic Foundation, with the other lords and emperors becoming subjects to it.
Meanwhile, in the war-torn lands of the humans, a small number of people were changed into Kalashtar by fusing with celestial spirits. These spirits were trying to warn them of something, but the Kalashtar could not understand.
The war eventually led to the first cataclysm, in the year 1050, when a portal opened to the Infernal Domain at the southern pole. The infernal armies set their sights on the mortals of the realm and used infernal cannons to shoot at the base of the flying isles, exposing their Darkstone cores and causing them to fall. Many of these isles were lost beneath the sea, and the survivors fled
