Terran Meritocracy Clones

"But they're clones!"   "Yeah, and?"   "Doesn't that make them identical?"   "Apparently, someone failed terran biology. Ooglans work like that, not humans. Too much variance... Radioactivity, education, ambiant dna, ambiant rna, virus-caused mutations. Clones are barely more alike than normal twins, sharing 0.995% dna to twin's 0.994%."   "Oh, but some of our opponents do work that way?"   "From those with DNA, at least, most do."   "Why not humans? And if it's so different for us, why bother with clones?"   "Because, numbskull, human minds are too different, but it does create perfectly homogenous human bodies..."   "I've read somewhere these clones' geneparents have a political impact..."   "Look at the big brain on you... The meritocracy in the name comes from the fact that those that have sacrificed more, cumulatively, through their clones, get commensurate political power."   "And you want us to ally with these?"   "I'm considering it. Our political systems aren't really compatible, but genetically we are as terran as they are."
Meanwhile...
Meanwhile, in the terran meritocracy
"Some of us were chosen for our beauty, for our skils..." She purred, stroking his chin. Then she spat the words: "Not me, I was chosen to be a warrior, spawned of warriors." And punched him in the face, for good measure. "Get out of my sight!"
Meanwhile...
Back in the Gethan Throneworld.   "It's unnerving, how many of them are identical."   "You've not seen the worse yet. Their new initiative..."   "What?"   "Plan trueblood has them incorporating no more than three genelines per squad. So you'd see maybe five different faces, and a family resemblance in some, for every group of soldiers you see."   "Just that?"   "What do you mean?"   "Can't they just pick clones that are the same size/weight or something, guarantee everyone in the squad is wearing the same size, and save themselves some logistics?"
"And what is this?" He pointed to a picture of a regal woman, wearing clothes that would not have been out of place in 2000 BC on terra.   "Cultural posturing, the founding clones all took this type of pictures, to give themselves a further veneer of legitimacy, it's atom thick, of course. The more so since they've not been on birthsphere, we'd have known..."
