Aberfanfiga

Located in Cenedl Llywelyn on the northeast shore of Lake Keelrey in Iesweytonshire.
Aberfanfiga is one of the busiest ports on Lake Keelrey, and the busiest in Cenedl Llywelyn. It is often the last stop for ships before their trip up the Rhydweli river, and is usually the first stop after reaching Lake Keelrey.

Local Power

The political seat of Cenedl Llywelyn, Aberfanfiga is home to approximately 10,000 residents, including Cenedl Henur, Tomos Llywelyn. While Henur Llywelyn is also the local power for Aberfanfiga, he has appointed a Syrif for the area.
Syrif Gareth Hartley is Henur Llywelyn's chief of staff and captain of the Aberfan guard.

Geography

The center of the city is encircled in a fortified wall with towers approximately every 50 yards and A grand total of seven gates. There are 8 distinct neighborhoods within the town. Five of these are located either partially or entirely outside the outer wall. Those neighborhoods are:
Vough
  • Pronounced "vow"
  • Located entirely inside the fortification wall, and makes up much of the inner city including the main square
  • Basically one big outdoor market. Densely packed with vendors stalls, businesses, and the homes of those that run them
Spice Star
  • The eastern quadrant, inside the city wall
  • Mostly commercial, but not necessarily industrial
  • Considered a wealthy neighborhood by Cenedl Llywelyn standards
Chapel Point
  • Located outside the west wall, and stretches from the lakeshore past the Northwest Gate
  • Mostly residential with a few local businesses scattered throughout
  • Home to many middle and lower-middle-class folks, including many residents who work in Vough
Cleargate
  • Falls across the northern part of the main wall
  • A lower class neighborhood, many who live here supplement their income via pickpocketing, thieving, and panhandling to avoid abject poverty
Reach District
  • Located outside the wall, northeast of Spice Star
  • A mostly low-density, residential neighborhood
  • Home to many farmers, and laborers
Claybank
  • The city's easternmost neighborhood outside the wall
  • A healthy mix of homes and businesses, mostly for the upper-middle and merchant classes.
Silk Port
  • The inner part of the Aberfan port system, located on the city's southeast side
  • Mostly industrial, home to the Aberfan port headquarters and other lake-related industry.
Redhaven Port
  • A continuation of the Silk Port outside the southern wall
  • Home to many private ports
  • Many private vessels and luxury goods pass through here

Economy

Similar to the other port cities on Lake Keelrey, Aberfanfiga is dominated by seafaring commerce. However, because it is a cenedl capital, a wider variety of industries call the city home, meaning potential customers have more goods and services to choose from. Trade operates on common currency, though bartering with local vendors is not unheard of.

Culture

Aberfan cuisine consists of a healthy mix of surf and turf, though the commonplace dishes vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. Poorer districts like Chapel Point and Cleargate often offer more vegetable-based dishes. When dishes do include meat folks in those districts often work with cheaper cuts of meat compared to what's available in Spice Star and Claybank. Like other lake cities, music and art styles and tastes are varied. Aberfan artists usually produce works with an eclectic list of inspiration. Most poor folks stick to folk tales and stories, which are rarely not tied to the lake and its legends.
