The Boar
Within living memory, a cruel and rapacious nobleman picked a fight with a bunch of druid-priests while despoiling a forest on a hunting expedition and lost. He abandoned his fellows and fled into the woods, and, like all those who split the party, as he disturbed a mother boar who gored him to death. Unfortunately for everyone involved, one of her tusks pierced his heart, and the boar in question promptly turned albino and doubled in size, becoming the fearsome awnshegh now known as the Boar of Thuringode.
In the years since, many have tried, and failed, to slay the Boar, and every time it successfully kills a would-be hero and feasts on their flesh it grows in size. It's currently bigger than a house, and strong enough to plow huge sections of woodlands when it makes a charge and gore attack. It's not truly evil (it's still pretty much just an animal, after all, if a bad-tempered one).
It doesn't completely control its forest as a Holding, which is still just considered a province of Massenmarch, though its influence has turned it into a spooky and ominous place. The forest is a bit of a haven for bandits, goblins, and gnolls, at least in part because it is one of the few such forests free of human logging and exploitation.
The Boar may not seek allies or enemies, but it has created both nevertheless.
The Boar's foes include the Swordhawk, who would surely have slain the beast by now if it did not avoid him - as it does no other. Other foes include legions of young Brecht nobles who desire the fame that comes with slaying an awnshegh - and consider the mindless Boar surely an easier foe than more cunning awnsheghlien. The hunter Alfredo Stade haunts the fringes of the wood, some say he seeks to find a way of slaying the great beast, others that he seeks to find the sorceress of the wood to beg forgiveness for his failure to do so.
Physical Description
Body Features
The Boar is a huge white furred boar, or more accurately sow. The boar is the size of a small house, at least 12 feet tall at the shoulder and by some rumours larger still. Its tusks are the size of small logs, and its squeal of rage can be heard from miles away. The first rumors of the Boar reached Muden perhaps 35 years ago. The tales, like the boar itself, have only grown with the passing years.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The Boar was originally an animal. Going from ordinary animal to awnshegh has not changed this as it retains the needs of an animal still. The Boar eats, sleeps, and when in heat seeks a mate. It cares nothing for conquest or power. Fiercely territorial the boar is likely to ignore small creatures, but charges anything the size of a large horse or more to drive the invader from its territory.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Daffodil claims the Boar is his mother.
Family Ties
The Boar is rumoured to have given birth children since becoming an awnsheghlien. Some are boars like their mother, but some are human due to the sick dedication of the druids that worship it. None are close to their mother in size, but they, or their offspring, also inhabit the wood.
Some scoff at these rumors, the boar is far too large to breed with any other of its kind.
Hobbies & Pets
It has a dedicated tribe of druids who worship it.
