Farsight
Do you see that eagle circling in the sky? Do you know for what it seeks? The first of these may be easy to answer, the second less so. For that eagle may not be all it seems.
Farsight is the ability of a Tarembura to see and experience the world through the senses of another creature. Because Farsight puts the creature in the hands of the Tarembura, having the creatures trust is essential (or at least hugely helpful) for the spell to be successful. Many Tarembura will cultivate long term relationships with specific animals in order to build this trust and information on the trustworthiness of individual tarembura seems to be communicated by many birds and animals.
Effect
Farsight requires that the Tarembura is in physical contact with the chosen animal while calling on its spirit to grant the Tarembura access to its senses. If the entreaty is successful then the Tarembura can experience the world as the creature does - and direct its movements. Thus that eagle circling in the sky may well be an eagle hunting for rabbit; it may also be a Tarembura tracking a fugitive or seeking the encampment of a group he or she wishes to visit. To end the spell, the tarembura returns the creature to the tarembura's body to re-establish physical contact and allow their conscious to return.
Side/Secondary Effects
There are two side effects to be wary of. The first is the risk of not being able to separate ones consciousness from the creature in which case the Tarembura is stuck there; their body will gradually wither as it starves and on its death the Tarembura's spirit is released to whatever (if any) afterlife awaits it. The other is of acquiring some characteristic of the creature, normally this is behavioural but it may also be physical, such as fur, feathers or claws. The risk of both of these increases the longer the Tarembura remains as the creatures conscious - almost all tarembura know someone who has fallen to these effects and few will dare to risk more than a day..
An Account
I've known Idri-sellyn for about 5 years. This started when I found the nest he had hatched in and I began to build his trust by feeding him scraps of game. I first had farsight with him in his third summer, for it is foolish to try farsight with an animal that does not fully know itself - it may be easy to enter it, but it can make it far harder to get out again. That was for just a few minutes to get to know an eagles senses for Idri-sellyn is the first eagle that I had farsight with. Over the next few months we shared again and the time I spent and the distance I travelled from my body increased to a quarter of a day - between sunrise and noon. Since then Idri-sellyn has favoured me with his companionship for together we have learned much from each other. When he finds a mate I will need to use him less, but through him I am gaining the trust of other eagles and though I may make farsight with them, Idri-sellyn will always be special to me.Harru-brax, Tarembura in the Moran Mountains
