Narravine

Sometime a household will come to the conclusion that its god no longer has their best interests in mind. Perhaps they have offended it and have been unable to restore its favour, or perhaps the entity that they attracted was not truly fitted to be a household god. The Rite of Narravine is one of the more common approaches used to try to rid the household of an unwanted presence in order to restore its luck, happiness and prosperity.

Execution

Each member of the household removes their token form the Shrine of a Household God asserting that they are removing they are still of the household but no longer respect the god. This will usually be done starting with the most junior member and finishing with the most senior. With the Shrine emptied it is then desecrated with fould materials - human or animal cess, rotten food and such like before it is processed from the house and buried away from human settlement.

Participants

As with most of the rites associated with the Household Gods the presence of as many members of the household as possible is seen as one of the keys to success. Indeed, few will even attempt Narravine without every member present, lest the god should be given cause to think that some of the household still cleaved to them.
