Aetherblast
Aetherblast
7th-level evocationCasting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (a prism exposed to starlight for seven nights)
Duration: Instantaneous
Aetherblast channels the raw, chaotic energy of the aether, unleashing a devastating explosion of arcane power. Choose a point you can see within range. A massive burst of multicolored, shimmering energy erupts from that point in a 40-foot-radius sphere. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 10d6 force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The spell also distorts reality in the following ways:
Aetheric Disruption: On a failed save, a creature's form becomes slightly unstable. It has disadvantage on Strength and Constitution saving throws until the end of your next turn.
Reality Warp: After the blast, the area within the sphere becomes a zone of warped reality for 1 minute. The terrain is considered difficult terrain, and any creature that starts its turn in the area must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become disoriented, suffering disadvantage on its next attack roll or ability check.
Arcane Feedback: If a creature within the area of effect is currently concentrating on a spell, it must make a Constitution saving throw with disadvantage. On a failed save, its concentration is broken.
Additionally, as part of casting this spell, you can choose up to three creatures you can see to be unaffected by Aetherblast, as you shape the explosion to avoid them.
After casting Aetherblast, the strain of manipulating such potent aetheric energy leaves you momentarily weakened. You can't move or take reactions until the end of your next turn, as you recover from the spell's backlash.
