Skills Perception +2, Stealth (advantage) +6, Survival +2, Acrobatics +6, Athletics +4 Senses blindsight 30 ft., passive Perception 13 Languages *can only make speech mimicking sounds themselves, telepathy Challenge 1/4 (50 XP) Near-Speech. The constructors do not have normal vocal cords. They are able to make sound similar to speech but it will not be understandable to anyone, it’s just enough to sound like something you almost understand. Telepathy. The constructors are telepathic snakes that prefer sentient prey. They can listen to active thoughts as per the Detect Thoughts Spell, and send telepathic commands as per the Command Spell. Resist with a DC 11 Wisdom Save if not poisoned by them, DC 16 if poisoned by one. Great Leap. The constructor can choose to use it’s great muscles and length to sling itself through the air twice it’s speed in distance as a move action. Humanoid Form. The constructor can wrap itself in complex form to appear as a humanoid shape, and even fight and use items, wear armor and run like a humanoid. What makes this so terrifying is their tendency to wrap around a prey, break all the bones, then slide inside through the mouth and eat the insides to begin wearing the skin in while in this form. It takes a constructor 10 minutes after killing someone to consume the insides and assume this form wearing the skin. Constructor scales coat themselves in an enzyme filled oil that preserves living tissue and prevents it from necrotizing. Assuming the form without a skinsuit takes 1 standard action. Once it has properly made a skinsuit it can easily remove it and hang it like a garment until it wants to wear it again, the coating from it’s scales having perfectly preserved it for later use.
Actions Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 4) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 6 (2d6 + 2) poison and psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Failing the saving throw makes you vulnerable to the constructor’s Psionic abilities until you have had a long rest or lesser restoration spell cast on you. Once you’ve failed the saving throw and become vulnerable, additional bites only do more damage because you’re already vulnerable.
