Druid's Gauntlet

Druid's Gauntlet
3rd-level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (15-foot radius)
Components: V, S, M (a sprig of thorns and a leaf from an ancient oak)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Druid's Gauntlet is a conjuration spell that calls upon the primal forces of nature to rise in defense of the caster, creating a formidable barrier of thorns, vines, and the unyielding strength of the forest. This spell is not just a defensive measure; it is a manifestation of nature's wrath and protective spirit, a tangible expression of the bond between the druid and the wild.

Upon casting, the caster crushes the sprig of thorns and leaf in their hand, releasing their essence into the air. The ground around them responds to this call, as vines and brambles erupt from the earth, coiling and intertwining to form a dense, protective barrier. The air fills with the scent of fresh earth and wild greenery, as the gauntlet takes shape.

Protective Barrier: The spell creates a 15-foot-radius sphere of thick vegetation around the caster. This living barrier provides half cover to the caster and their allies within its confines, reducing damage from ranged attacks and impeding the advance of enemies.

Mechanic: Enemies that attempt to enter or pass through the barrier must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, they take 2d6 piercing damage from the thorns and are slowed by half their movement speed due to the entangling vines. On a successful save, they take half damage and can move through the barrier, though their speed is still reduced.

Symbiotic Defense: While within the barrier, the caster gains a heightened sense of their surroundings, attuned to the movements and vibrations within the gauntlet. This grants them advantage on Perception checks and a bonus to AC, as the living barrier aids in their defense.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the radius of the barrier increases by 5 feet, and the piercing damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.

  Classes: Druid, Ranger

Druid's Gauntlet is more than a spell; it is a declaration of unity with nature, a physical manifestation of the ancient covenant between the druid and the wild. It embodies the resilience and tenacity of the natural world, providing a sanctuary of thorns and leaves that stands as a testament to the protective power of the wilderness. The spell not only serves as a shield but also as a symbol of nature's willingness to defend those who honor and uphold its sacred balance.
