Eclipse of the Mindweaver
Eclipse of the Mindweaver
5th-level enchantment, psionicCasting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a sliver of onyx and a silver thread)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
In the deepest recesses of thought, where reality and illusion converge, this spell weaves an intricate eclipse over the mind of your target. Choose one creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or fall under the spell's influence.
While under this spell, the target's mind becomes a malleable labyrinth. The creature is unable to discern truth from fiction, believing false memories or illusions you describe to it as long as they aren't directly harmful. You can create complex scenarios or simple deceptions, altering the creature's perception of friends, foes, and environments.
Each time the target is confronted with evidence contradicting the illusion or takes damage, it can make another Intelligence saving throw, ending the spell on a success. Additionally, each time the target is forced to make a decision based on the false information, it has disadvantage on any ability check, attack roll, or saving throw related to the action.
As a reaction when the target takes damage, you can choose to end the spell early, causing the creature's mind to reel from the sudden clash of realities. This imposes disadvantage on the creature's next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, extend the duration by 10 minutes and increase the range by 30 feet for each slot level above 5th. Casting this spell using a 9th level spell slot additionally overcomes resistance and immunity to charm magics rendering them ineffective against this spell, and grants disadvantage against saves against further charm magic from this spell's caster.
