Eclipse of the Shadowweave
Eclipse of the Shadowweave
9th-level abjurationCasting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (100-foot radius)
Components: V, S, M (a shard of obsidian and a piece of cloth from a robe worn by a shadow sorcerer)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
Upon casting Eclipse of the Shadowweave, you become the epicenter of an expanding dome of impenetrable darkness that extends outward up to 100 feet. This sphere of darkness blocks all natural and magical light. Within this domain, the following effects occur:
Magic Suppression: All spells of 5th level or lower cast inside or into the area are automatically nullified. Higher-level spells may penetrate the darkness only after succeeding on a caster level check against your spell save DC.
Strength Sapping: Each creature within the area, except you, must make a Constitution saving throw at the start of each of their turns. On a failed save, they take 2d8 necrotic damage, and their Strength score is reduced by 1d4. This reduction lasts until the creature finishes a long rest. If a creature's Strength score reaches 0, they are paralyzed until they are removed from the area.
Shadowy Illusions: You can use an action to create illusory figures or landscapes within the darkness. These illusions are indistinguishable from reality and can include auditory, visual, tactile, and olfactory elements. You must concentrate on the illusion to maintain it, as if concentrating on a spell.
Teleportation Anchoring: Teleportation and planar travel into or out of the area is impossible unless the creature attempting it succeeds on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the center of the darkness up to 60 feet.
