Labyrinth of the Dreaming Serpent
Labyrinth of the Dreaming Serpent
5th-level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action Range: 150 feet Components: V, S, M (a scale from a serpent and a piece of labyrinthine puzzle) Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
With the incantation of this spell, you summon the mystical essence of the Dreaming Serpent, an ethereal entity dwelling in the labyrinthine planes of dreams and nightmares. Upon casting, designate a 40-foot square area within range. The area becomes a complex, ever-shifting maze of illusory walls and corridors, visible only to those you choose.
Creatures of your choice within the area must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or become lost in the labyrinth. While trapped, a creature's movement is reduced to zero, and it cannot benefit from any bonus to its speed. To navigate the labyrinth, the creature must use its action on each of its turns to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC.
On a success, it finds its way and can move normally on its turn. On a failure, it remains lost, and its movement is still reduced to zero. A creature that fails this check by 5 or more becomes disoriented, suffering disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the end of its next turn.
Additionally, the illusory nature of the labyrinth can be manipulated. As a bonus action on your turn, you can alter the layout of the maze, forcing creatures within to make a new Intelligence saving throw, even if they previously succeeded. You can also choose to reveal the labyrinth to new creatures, subjecting them to its effects.
If the spell ends or if a creature exits the area, the effects of the labyrinth cease for that creature. However, the memory of the bewildering maze lingers, leaving a lasting impression of the Dreaming Serpent's enigmatic domain.
Classes: Druid, Wizard, Bard Subclasses: Circle of Dreams Druid, College of Lore Bard, Illusionist Wizard Source: Original Creation
Note: The "Labyrinth of the Dreaming Serpent" is a spell of intricate deception and control, playing upon the minds of those ensnared within its bounds. It is particularly effective in controlling the flow of battle, hindering movement, and disorienting foes, while also serving as a tool for strategic retreats or to set up advantageous positions.
