Mindscape Maelstrom
Mindscape Maelstrom
6th-level enchantment, psionic
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a shard of fractured obsidian and a wisp of psychic mist)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Twisted prisms of thought and fractured realities flicker around your mind, spilling outward like an ethereal tide. Choose up to three creatures you can see within range. Each target must make an Intelligence saving throw.
On a failed save: The creature's mind becomes a labyrinth of mirrored corridors and shifting stairs. It is Bewildered, suffering the following effects:
Lost in Reflection: The creature is incapable of taking any actions other than attempting to escape the labyrinthine mental construct. Its movement speed is halved, and any teleportation spells targeting it have a 50% chance of depositing it further within the maze instead of at the designated destination. Fragmented Perception: The creature has disadvantage on all attack rolls and ability checks due to its fractured awareness. On a successful save: The creature brushes against the edge of the maelstrom, regaining its footing. You gain advantage on your next attack or spell targeting it before the end of your next turn.
As an action on subsequent turns, you can choose one affected creature and force it to make another Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes Engulfed in the Maelstrom, suffering the following effects:
Echoing Agony: The creature takes 4d8 psychic damage and is stunned until the end of its next turn. Shattered Memories: The creature loses access to one spell or ability of your choice (chosen when you cast the spell) for the duration. You regain access to this spell or ability when the target is no longer affected by the spell. At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 6th.
Classes: Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
