Morinrayne Hunters Academy

Nestled on the northern by northeastern edge of the village, just beyond the orderly expanse of Morinrayne Farms and eastward of The Honey Hole on the village's perimeter, stands the imposing structure of the Morinrayne Hunters Academy. This grand lodge, sprawling 200 feet in length and rising to a majestic height of 120 feet, is a testament to the enduring spirit of the village and its deep connection with the surrounding wilderness.   The forest that stretches to the north, yet unnamed, whispers its own unique tales. Each day, as the sun rises, it casts its golden light upon the Academy, illuminating its rugged, wooden facade, a beacon for those seeking mastery in hunting and survival. Unlike the diverse woodlands that encircle the village in other directions, this northern forest offers a singular ambiance - an uncharted world of flora and fauna, waiting to be understood and respected.   Inside the Academy, its expansive halls and rooms echo with the knowledge of generations. Here, students are not only trained in the arts of tracking, woodcraft, and herbcraft but are also instilled with a deep respect for the natural world. The Academy's curriculum is rigorous, demanding four hours of daily labor at the Morinrayne Lumber Company. This not only reinforces the students' connection to the forest but also serves as a crucial component of their training, imbuing them with a practical understanding of how to responsibly harvest and utilize the forest's resources.   Beyond the sturdy walls of the Academy, the unnamed forest serves as an invaluable extension of the classroom. Here, amidst the dense foliage and the underbrush, students learn to decipher the language of the wild. They track elusive game, identify medicinal and poisonous plants, and learn to move with the stealth and grace of the forest's natural inhabitants.   The Academy's history, deeply entwined with the village's past, speaks of resilience and rebirth. Following the great fire of 693 A.C., which devastated much of the village and its surroundings, the Academy emerged as a crucial center for aid and rebuilding. The noble families who remembered their days within these woods provided essential support, sending their young to learn and assist in the reconstruction efforts.   Today, the Morinrayne Hunters Academy is more than just an educational institution; it is a symbol of the village's enduring spirit and its symbiotic relationship with the natural world. Its large lodge-style building, a blend of rustic grandeur and practical design, stands as a proud reminder of the past and a beacon of hope for the future. Here, within the embrace of the unnamed northern forest, the next generation of hunters and rangers are being forged - skilled, respectful, and deeply connected to the land they vow to protect and sustain.   As a part of their collaboration with the Morinrayne Lumber Company, new recruits get time every day working with crews of lumberjacks guiding and spotting dangers for them as they search out the right timber to fill their orders for the day. These recruits get practical training by the instructors who follow the teams of crews out and provide lessons as they observe opportunities. Any game animals killed by the students are turned in at the Great Hall of the Hunters Academy to grant free lunch for the student and a discount on first round of drinks for their assigned crew.   The Morinrayne Hunters Academy is home to a large Great Hall where they serve meals in a cafeteria style all day long. They are well known around the country for their smoked meats. It's a commonly known but not spoken in polite company joke that they learned the secret of their smoked meats recipe after the Great Fire. The Academy was smaller and didnt' have the Great Hall before then, which helps lend credence to the popularity of this rumor. In truth it stretches back to a former Guildmaster's wife and her love for experimenting with trying to make her husbands catches more palatable without a lot more work.
