Spectral Chains is a conjuration spell that calls forth ethereal chains from the shadowy realm between worlds. These chains are not mere physical bonds; they are manifestations of unspoken promises and forgotten oaths, imbued with the power to bind not just the body, but the very essence of a creature.


Upon casting, the air around the target area crackles with a ghostly energy. The caster's words, woven with arcane power, resonate with the sound of clinking chains. From the ether, spectral chains emerge, shimmering with a ghostly light and seeking their quarry. These chains wrap around the target with an eerie precision, binding them with an otherworldly grip.


Effect on Target: The target is ensnared by the chains, which constrict not only their limbs but also seem to bind their very spirit. The chains are cold and weightless, yet unbreakable by mundane means, a paradox of the ethereal realm from which they are conjured.


Mechanic: The target must make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw (their choice). On a failed save, they are restrained by the spectral chains. While restrained in this manner, the target cannot move, and their speed becomes 0. They also suffer disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and attacks against them have advantage. The ethereal nature of the chains makes them immune to physical damage and difficult to escape without magical means.


Ethereal Pull: As long as the spell lasts, the caster can use a bonus action on their subsequent turns to tighten the chains, drawing the restrained creature up to 10 feet closer to them. This movement is against the will of the target, demonstrating the chains' power to compel and control.


At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can target an additional creature for each slot level above 3rd. Each creature must be within 30 feet of the first target.
