Survey Materials ritual

Survey Materials (ritual)
1st Level Divination
Casting time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, F (tuning fork)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
You touch one item you can move or lift. You learn the materials the item is composed of, as well as its structural state. The spell then ends.
The limitations of what materials means in this context are what the character can concieve of. If you can't imagine subatomic scale, you will not learn of quarks and other such subatomic elements. If you can, you may, depending on intent when casting the spell. You can for instance pick up a gold coin and tell if it's actually gold, or a mixture of gold and other things, or if it's only gold coated even. You can also utilize the cantrip Weights & Measures in conjuntion with this one to get clear measurements of each component of the item without having to cast the cantrip for each component.
Magic items, Artifacts, and some materials require an Arcana check equal to the crafting DC of the item or material in question to gain any knowledge from this spell, unless you also cast Identify. Examples include mithral, orichalcum, greystone, a lich's phylactery, any +1 or better magic item, magic potions, etc.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the number of items you can survey before the spell ends is increased by +1d4 for each slot level above 1st.
