K4-20 Manletik Pottery
This very large pottery shop is made from brick and has a very large central hearth with a large kiln, as it used to be home to a brick and mortar making business. But it shut down shortly after the Northern Empire took over the city of Martelain. Ariugtomor Manletik and Suzy Manletik moved into the building about 25 years ago, making use of the large brick kiln to fire pottery that they made. It previously had a slate roof, but the wooden structure supporting it had collapsed in spots, so the Manletik’s made tiles to resurface the roof once the wooden structure was repaired. They have grown the business into a sustainable part of the neighborhood.
Part of the restructuring of the roof also involved turning the front half of the second floor into a large covered balcony overlooking the street and the walls into the Lothien Garden across the street. The back half of the upper floor has become their personal living quarters, while the entire lower floor has become their shop.
The covered balcony also has a lot of plants growing on it, as they have made the walls that still come part way up on this level into planters for growing various foods, with the roof now directing water coming off the roof into a system of pipes to water those plants and to provide water for use in their living quarters and shop.
Floor plans for this establisment will follow when time permits to scan them in and get them uploaded.
