K4-43 Bourlier Leatherworking

Written by Adsmalley

This large brick building serves as a large leather working and tanning shop, owned by Macky Bourlier and his wife Euschia Bourlier. With a wide range of leather products are made at this establishment.   The first floor has their shop where they tool and stitch the various leather products that they make (along with employing their children as well as several other people in the neighborhood). A portion of the second floor is used as their living quarters, while most of the second floor has the vats that they use for part of the leather tanning process. The third floor, which is actually a really-high wall around an open roof area that has two levels of wooden scaffolding and leather hanging/stretching equipment. This results in the building appearing to be about 4 levels high without an obvious roof. The roof over the second level is of slate construction with a slight tilt to it so that all the rainwater that falls within the walls of the building can be collected and used in the tanning processes.   Floor plans for this establisment will follow when time permits to scan them in and get them uploaded.   Return to Channel Cities, Martelain, or the K4 Merchant’s Square District of Martelain.
