K4-57 Kégain Thatching (Key-gain)

Written by Adsmalley

This building is a bit unusual in that it is a two-story building of stone construction, but with a thatch roof. In the Channel Cities, if a building is of stone construction it is usually built this way due to being home to a business of some time that generates heat, such as a smithy, distillery, pottery, or some such. A Thatch roof for such a building is very unusual, but the reason for this is that the building is home to the roof thatching business of Ohmer Kégain. It is also unusual in that the lower level is not only the shop but also the living quarters of the owner (which are normally on an upper level). But in this case, the upper level is designed such that there is a lot of airflow through the upper floor, on which the thatch is stored. Since, depending on the type of thatch used, most thatches are only harvested once or twice a year.   Floor plans for this establisment will follow when time permits to scan them in and get them uploaded.   Return to Channel Cities, Martelain, or the K4 Merchant’s Square District of Martelain.
