Skeleton Ranger
Some skeletons are more than the sum of their armor and bones. A few are the whispered words of death itself.
Skeleton rangers are cold, relentless creatures. Lurking nightmares that drift through the forest shadows, hunting for their next prey. Like skeleton warriors, they are merciless, with a devious glimmer of intelligence in their dead eye sockets. Loyal to the necromancer that created them, they have an unwavering focus to complete any task they're given.
They, too, remember their skills from life. But instead of sword or shield, the skeleton ranger is armed with bow, machete, tracking, and stealth. With its devious intellect and wilderness knowledge, this creature can track victims with ease.
Necromancers create these unnatural horrors in the same way they do a skeletal warrior. But a skeleton ranger requires an extra ingredient. As with the warrior, the dead ranger’s weapons and armor are required, since they have the correct bond with the corpse. But that isn’t enough.
To corrupt the former ranger’s tie with nature, the necromancer needs a special rose. A black rose dipped in the fresh blood of a murdered creature under the light of a full moon. Last the necromancer must use the same amount of magic they would animate a skeleton warrior.
Skeleton rangers are a terrifying addition to a necromancer’s retinue. They are a formidable foe, greedy to hand out death to any that crosses its path. These silent killers are a clear and present danger in the wilds for any unwary adventurer who doesn’t stay alert.
