How do people honor and grieve their dead in your world?
One way that people mourn and pay respect to the dead was to scatter the dead's ashes into the sea. The people believed that water is sacred and that people came from water.
History
- The older people believe that sprinkling the ashes of the dead one will guide them back to the Mother
- They believed that people came from water and that water is important to sustain life
- The Mother is the goddess of creation and water was the first thing she created (according to the olden texts)
- Nowadays only selective few participate in this ceremony
Execution
Components and tools
- Urn with the deceased favorite color (if it was not their favorite color, they might not be passed on)
- Prayers to Edra at her sanctuary in Thuraya.
Participants
- Prophets usually handled the ceremony
- In the case where there was no prophet to help, there are manuals for the ceremony. The head of the family will be officating.
Observance
- This ceremony was usually done in the early morning when the sun began to rise.
- It takes place in either Edra sanctuary or the Chruch of Edra and the sea.
