The Chroma Conclave

Summary

Every civilization has it's apocalypse story. For most of the Chardovian continent it is the Legend of the Seven Omens. This legend details the coming of a great destructive force known as the Chroma Conclave. While scholars have argued over the true nature of this myth, some say that there is nothing to interpret. The End Times are nigh.

Historical Basis

As nations of the world have advanced in technology and arcane prowess (especially after the Great Invasion), scholars believe that the Legend of the Omens and the Conclave are no more than the personification of a fear of progress. Some fear that magic and technology will advance to the extent that it is beyond mortal control - thus resulting in a great cataclysm. While there is some merit to the claim that magic itself (due to an increasing number of magically gifted individuals) is becoming less and less predictable, many scholars and archmagi claim magic can do nothing more that consume an untrained user. The rest is prevented by Mystra herself.

In Literature

In her account of First Contact, The Witch of the Kalor details the following:
"...and I saw at once the five - they were great and terrible. Older than the gods - prouder - more powerful. The first was a shining blue star that moved oceans. The second was a ghostly white, no beast as one might think, but a pale, living scroll of departed souls. The third's size was as immense as a starless night - his hatred for his betray will blacken the land. The fourth was afflicted with great pain, but this did not halt her cunning nor her green envy. The fifth, the one who bows the heads of the others, burned with the light of four suns. Together they will scorch the land and bring about the ashen world they are owed." - The Witch of Kalor, First Contact.
She also outlined the Signs of the End Times:
  1. The White Rider Appears
  2. The Red Rider Appears
  3. The Black Rider Appears
  4. The Pale Rider Appears
  5. The Sleeper Awakes
  6. The Heavens Break Open
  7. The Silence of the Gods
