WorldEmber 2023
WorldEmber Pledge
I pledge to complete WorldEmber and the articles and ideas listed here to the best of my abilities, but not by sacrificing time for self-care during the holidays.I've been away since a disastrous Summer Camp 2023 so I am going to get back into a writing rhythm with WorldEmber and 10k words this month.
Week 1
Choose your focus...
*Insert frustrated and burnt-out ADHD noises here*I have, in the past, consistently tried to find a set focus for something I want to work on.... and it tends to burn me out extremely quickly. This year, I want to take a new approach!
A New Approach
I've always found WorldEmber to be harder than Summer Camp simply because... I am not great at creating a roadmap for myself with the vauge goal of "Write 10k Words in December". So I am going to make use of World Anvil's Prompts!Whenever I get stuck, I will search for a prompt that gets the inspiration flowing, and allow my brain to follow any rabbit holes that may be created from that article! I think the flexibility will allow me to consistently come up with enough ideas and words that I can complete WorldEmber and be able to maintain my momentum into the new year.
Week 2
The Mini-Meta...
Wait, how do I make a mini-meta for the concept of 'every idea and thought I could possibly have'?With such a broad scope, instead of writing a mini-meta, I decided to go back and revisit my broader world meta, writing it from scratch and making it available publicly.
WorldEmber 2023 Complications
One of the biggest complications this year for WorldEmber will be the fact that Chardovil is being converted from a world built for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition.... to Pathfinder 2nd Edition. And I am still very new with running Pathfinder games. Obviously the world's theme being akin to a 5e module page is not really working anymore either. However, these will have to be problems solved later down the line. New articles that require me to draw from Pathfinder's rules will have the tag #pf2e going forward to allow me to go through and make corrections and amendments after the judging, if necessary.
Using the WorldAnvil prompts is a great idea and one I may have to borrow from you, depending on how next month goes! I hope you have a great WorldEmber and that you enjoy it. You've got this! :)
