Near South

Neighborhood in Chicago's Downtown District

Several of Chicago's top attractions are situated in the Near South region. These include the Museum Campus, which features three natural science museums on the lakefront that are both educational and enjoyable; Soldier Field, the Chicago Bears' NFL home stadium; and McCormick Place, the city's enormous convention center. At street level, there are additional points of interest, such as the captivating and spooky Prairie Avenue, the diverse Printer's Row, and the South Loop's condominium towers. Moreover, the area contains two significant jazz and blues landmarks. The Near South is bordered by Harrison St to the north, the Chicago River and Clark St/Federal St to the west, 26th St to the south, and Lake Michigan to the east.

While the Near South may have been prestigious in the past, it has since fallen into disuse and has only recently been rediscovered. As a result, it's not the safest area and there are still some abandoned buildings and empty lots. However, with the new development taking place, it's becoming a more attractive location for vampires to hunt.

With Printer's Row being the center of Chicago's publishing industry, and with the eclectic mix of residents in the area, it's a good place for vampires to establish connections with artists and writers. The Museum Campus also offers opportunities for vampires to meet interesting people and potentially influence their thoughts and actions.

The South Loop has a mix of historic and new buildings, and trendy restaurants that are perfect for feeding on humans. Prairie Avenue, while protected as Chicago landmarks, has many old mansions that could be used for havens, although they may require some renovation. Overall, the Near South offers some potential for vampires, but it's not the most desirable location due to its past reputation and current safety concerns.
