The Rack is a prime hunting ground for Kindred in Chicago outside of their own declared domains, where they can use their supernatural powers to feed on humans. Managed by the Prince and Primogen Council, it covers much of Rush Street, and the neighborhoods of Wicker Park, Wrigleyville, and Boystown, providing a relatively "safe" space for discreet feeding. Territorial disputes are rare within the Rack due to an unwritten rule of coexistence, allowing Kindred to hunt in back alleys, venues, and other areas not specifically designated as individual domains by the Prince.
Rush Street, the vibrant heart of The Rack, features over a hundred clubs and bars, attracting all types of interesting mortals from tourists, entertainers, and bar-hoppers, to beggars, thieves, and other criminals, providing a variety of meals to choose from. West of Rush Street, places like Old Town are experiencing a resurgence with clubs reopening after a period of heavy city zoning and regulation. This revival attracts both seekers of vice and the predators among them. Despite civic efforts to ban them, venues like The Succubus Club and X-rated movie clubs on Dearborn, Clark, and La Salle continue to thrive, ensuring The Rack's free-for-all allure remains strong.
Despite these opportunities, young Kindred are forewarned of the risks associated with wandering the city's "Red light" district in search of a free meal. Dangers lurk in almost every corner, with the predator sometimes becoming the prey of a more powerful Lick. Because of this, many Camarilla elitists and cautious Anarchs prefer the safety of their own domains and only hunt there if they are in a desperate bind.
