Boutique
To hear her tell it, Primogen Jasmine Ross spent literal centuries honing her art, improving her dance every night in every light. She tuned her body to the peak capabilities of what a human could achieve, then went beyond into realms best described as supernatural. The greatest dancers of any age have only a few scant decades to perfect their craft, after all.
Then, in 1998, she stopped. She acknowledges that she still dances for her own pleasure but no longer for anyone else's. Among most Kindred she'll laugh it off with some glib remark. Among Toreador she will sometimes admit that her work had become so perfect that it had begun to bore her. So she turned to painting.
Turning her whole attention to the art world, Primogen Ross began supporting local artists, studying the history of painting with a special eye to African-American art of the nation's 19th Century, and she also bought Boutique.
Purpose / Function
Primogen Ross established Boutique with the intent of creating a space where artists under her patronage could display their work. In the last twenty years she has also (very, very rarely) displayed some of her own attempts.
Culturally among the Kindred, the Toreador appreciate that it's a place of their own. While not an Elysium, or even really a "hangout," it definitely has a Clan appeal.
