But Caine grew lonely in his Power. Deep within him, the seed of loneliness blossomed, and grew a dark flower He saw within his blood the potence of fertility By calling up demons and listening to whispered wisdom He learned the way to make a child for his own.
- The Book of Nod
And so, they came from the east.
Traveling westward in wagons, taming the land, and settling it. Spreading over the continent, following their Manifest Destiny.
The land on the southern shores of Lake Michigan was not theirs to take. It was already home to the Miami, Sauk, Fox and Potawatomi, but they did not care about the "Red Skins" and so they soaked the land with their blood. And so did the tribes with the blood of the settles. Over and over and over again.
But blood's sweet, fragrant smell invites more than a lust for vengeance. It invites creatures far more terrible than the blue-coated soldiers raping native women and killing their children for sport.
It invites an evil from a time before people found out they were "White", "Black" or "Red", from a time when they were just "People".
And so,
They came.
Traveling from the Old World, from New York and Washington. Following their prey westward. They came and waited, gently pulling on the strings of the Kine, of Seth's Children. Creating their own versions of homesteads in the west. Not filled with cattle or fields, but with buildings and streets.
And delicious, warm, sweet blood.
Just as the town of Chicago is starting to grow, attracting settlers, so do its nights grow darker, as Cain's cursed children flock to the fresh blood. To feed. fight for power and Domain.
Since one Kindred quickly grows lonely in their power and once the seed of loneliness blossoms, the curse will take its course once again.
