Ballard Industries

With a healthy mix of administrative businesses, trust funds, financial firms, and industrial companies, Ballard Industries is one of the pillars of Chicago’s economy. It is also one of the largest conglomerates in the country, with significant holdings in companies in other fields.
A number of Ballard Industries holding companies made a series of auspicious purchases of land in advance of the development of the Dakota Pipeline from 2013 to 2020. However 2022 saw a reversal of company fortunes when leaked documents hinted at a series of bribes and extortion used to further those purchases. 2023 and early 2024 saw company scion Christopher Ballard in an out of court houses and subcomittees, fending off legal action.
