Culture of Moonstone
Moonstone became culturally significant to a vast majority of the world. With the general acceptance and prevalence of magic, Moonstone became a popular magical component used for spells or within arcane architecture.
Moonstone is a milky white stone that is lunescent, or luminous in conjunction with its exposure to moonlight. When not exposed, the stone will maintain a level of opalescence and shed various colors within the stone when exposed to light--Though primarily blue in opalescence, the shades therein can as well range anywhere from yellow, to purple, to pink.
Moonstone, because of its magical properties that are theorized to come from its exposure to moonlight, is often mined for usage by mages. Moonstone, however, is a strange gem. Moonstone typically “grows” within areas of magic--but that is not to say in Godblinds or Moonwrests. Moonstone will grow a) near and within The Summoner's Circles, b) where moonlight is prevalent--where the day and night cycles are elongated, and c) around the abodes of mages through the crystallization of dead material. As such, Moonstone can not only be difficult to come by, but difficult to safely mine.
Moonstone was still able to become culturally significant due to both its beauty and utility. Many cultures all over Tara used Moonstone within scepters (popularizing wands among mages), regalia (popularizing robes and ornate capes), and even in weapons--the most famous of these being Moonstone Knifes (creating the first magical weapons).
Having these kinds of items not only denoted magical powers to the wearer or bearer, but allowed the first attempts at entering other planes of existence, thus making it sacred and off limits to a majority of the populace.
