Orange Tree

A fruit-bearing citrus tree, the sweet orange tree was introduced by human immigrants to Eydan a year after landfall. The fruit is called orange in English and geepa in Eyan. The parent species of the orange tree, the mandarin and the polemo have not been introduced to Eydan.

The orange fruit is an agricultural product transplanted by humans, used for both the juicy fruit pulp and the aromatic rind. The orange blossoms, fruit, leaves, and wood of the tree have many uses. The wood is used for smoking meat and making fine tools.

Touted as good luck by human immigrants, orange blossoms and perfumes have become highly prized by eyan people in Bardor, Omar, and Frey provinces. Soza beekeepers have noticed a new sweetness to the honey they cultivate along the border with the human colony and are attempting to grow orange trees.
