Windsnap Tree

The windsnap tree is a big flowering tree without any leaves. When the wind blows it blooms and similar to Earth dandelions, the blooms erupt into feathery seeds and snap off, propelled by the wind to start new trees. The sap is thick and deep purple. It seeps from the snapped-off stems.

The sap is gathered in late summer for its medicinal properties. The tree has been known to slap sap gatherers with its larger branches. Whether inhabited by spirits or sapient itself, the trees are protective of the valuable sap.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Windsnap trees are found where strong winds cross the plains, along mountainsides, and at the top of seaside cliffs. They are weeded out of farmlands because the purple sap can affect crops and attracts the more deadly Sicklevine, often found across the ground around clusters of windsnap trees.
