Session 11 - The Lost City – Taming of the Shrews
General Summary
It has been ten days since the team set out from Ghor Dranas and five since stumbling upon the lost city of Cynidecea and the pyramid they have been exploring.
After taking a long rest to recover from the giant snakes, the team continues their explorations, first entering a room that contains only a casket but the walls are painted with scenes of a lady in waiting attending the queen. The casket is inscribed with the words “Here lies Lady Ashoka Adalwin lady in waiting to Queen Zenobia”. Among the dusty remains is an odd looking bag. After examining the bag, and putting things in and out of it, they determine that it is a bag of holding.
Continuing onward they next find what is clearly an embalming room, but before they can fully explore it, they are attacked by five shadows. While formidable they are able to overcome them, but not before Gunkin suffers their affects and needs to immediately take an hour long rest to recover. Beneath the bin of embalming linens, they find a chest full of gold as well as a potion of healing.
Heading back to the south corridor they encounter a room that has large hole toward the bottom of – it appears something gnawed its way in. Entering the room, they find a wooden coffin that likewise has large holes gnawed in it. Opening the coffin from the hinged side to avoid surprise, out pops three giant shrews that immediately attack. During the relatively easy fight, though, Gunkin becomes uncontrollably and inexplicably afraid of the creatures and runs away leaving Sylbella and Feebs to deal with the rodents. And all for naught as the room and coffin are empty of anything interesting or useful.
