Session 18 – The Lost City – Ogres Revisited
General Summary
Waking from a much-needed long rest, especially for their newly rescued expedition leader, Gikhesh the crew takes the time to thoroughly survey and explore the wine storage room. Alas, other than perhaps the meat and pelt of the owlbear, the only other things of value here are that collectively the wine is worth 100 gold pieces if they were to take 400 or so bottles.
They decide it is not worth the space in the Bag of Holding and that the meat would likely rot before they could eat it all so they only take what they can use in the next day or two.
Exiting the room, they are immediately greeted by a roaming pair of rust monsters, which prove to be of little challenge, but certainly gets everyone’s blood pumping first thing in the morning.
Inspired by that short battle, they decide that it is time to properly confront the ogres they were unceremoniously introduced to by the doppelgangers and thereby forced to flee and regroup. Now that they also have Gikhesh with them, they decide now is the time to strike.
The ogres are still there, eating candles in the storage room. Gunkyn uses his now famous spell, Nathair’s Mischief to pin the ogres in one corner and later blind them. This allows Sylbella and Gikhesh to get fully into the room where they can deal deadly melee attacks while Feebs and Gunkyn continue to support from the hallway.
The blinded ogres swing around wildly with their great clubs but are unable to find purchase against any of the heroes and thus stand no chance.
The endeavor proves worth the time since the ogres both carry large sacks of gold, as well as a few Wizard Scrolls.
Remembering that they were last in this hallway after being escorted there, Gunkyn suggests that Feebs do a more thorough examination, which turns up a secret door not noticed earlier.
Taking this secret passage leads to a room will four humans wearing rat masks. Gunkyn again casts Nathair’s Mischief, managing to get three of the four men in the cube before they can fully react.
To be continued…
