Laws of Hospitality

The Arctus Court, in order to provide a better balance to the altered population of Vaysoom have set forth, in this document, the rules of conduct regarding dealings with other signatory nations. This contract holds no power over conduct between individuals of the same nation as those nations are to govern themselves.

All signatories are required to uphold these Laws among their own nation or risk conflict between nations. Violations of the following contract will result in swift retribution following a dispute. Any dispute is given one (1) full week to investigate any claims and judgement rendered.

The Laws

1. All signatory nations will abide by the letter of these Laws to prevent destructive conflict. These Laws do not have a "spirit" to be followed.

2. Those invited as guests, or enterring a signatory nation as a Messenger, need not fear violence or repurcussion unless they, themselves, create a conflict.

3. Signatory nations may not target any individual who is under said protections utilizing food, drink, or altering substances unless specifically consented to by the individual. Consent overrides the protections of the Laws as the individual makes the willing choice.

4. Any legal representative of citizens of signatory nations killed by any citizen of a different signatory nation may demand a weregild in recompense for the loss of life. This payment, determined by the representative or ruling leader, must be deemed fair by a neutral signator.

5. Should the weregild not be paid, the wronged party must be allowed a fair duel with the individual who took the life. Only if this duel is refused or the accepted code of fair dueling is broken, will open conflict between those nations be allowed.

6. Only freeholding representatives of their nation may become signatories to the Laws and must be nominated by no less than two votes of sitting signatories.

7. Neutral territories may be added to the existing sanctuaries upon agreement by any nations directly tied to the location and added to the Sanctuary Territories upon acceptance by both the Solstai and Arctus Courts.

8. A challenge for a single combat duel can only be declared by a legal representative of the ruling party of a signatory nation utilizing the same code.
