Mana Burning
Mana burning is a type of ability that all Elemental Mages innatly have. It does not need to be learned or even trained as it is heavely linked with a living being's inherent survival instincts, or the desire for self preservation.
Effect
Mana burning consist of the very rapid expulsion of mana energy from within the mage's body in response to pain, anger, fear, or a critital excess of mana within a mage's core. It is designed to be a last-ditch survival mechanism. While the mage remains largely unscated by this, it often results in large scale destruction and subsequent loss of life and is therefore very rarely triggered volontarily.
Side/Secondary Effects
After an Elemental Mages burns his mana, he will feel very tired, sometimes too much so to walk or even stand upright. He will also be unable to use his powers at all for at the very least half a day and it generaly takes up to a week for their abilities to recover their full strenght.
Manifestation
The energy forms a sphere of a variable radius around the mage, which is able to phase through most physical objects or barriers, except for things made out of iron or steel, which are naturaly able to block mana. The radius of said sphere depends on the quantity of mana stored in the mage's nexus at that time as well as the general strenght of the mage's ability. At a minimun, the sphere will have a radius of 1 to 3 metres. However, in some cases, it can reach up to 100 metres.
As the mana exits the body, it will then "ignite" and do one of two things. Depending on the type of Elemental Mages it comes from, it will either transform into that element, or it will severely disturb or even destroy that element within the sphere. If the mage is a Lightmage of Firemage, then the mana will transform into a ball of light or fire around the mage, extending to whichever radius the mana covered. on the contrary, if the Elemental Mages is one of the six other type, then the mana will instead directly influence one of those 6 elements caught within the sphere.
This all happens in just around a quarter of a second, from the moment that the first mana begins exiting the body, to the expantion of the sphere, to the ignition of the mana. After around 2-10 seconds, depending on the element, the effects will dissipate, leaving behind lots of destruction and death.
Source
The mana is ejected from the mage's core, a special region of their souls.
Related Element
All 8 elements that make up Hysal can be controled or created with mana burning.
Effect Duration
2-10 second
Effect Casting Time
A quarter of a second
Range
From 1-3 metres to around 100m
Applied Restriction
Mana burning cannot be triggered consciously and is therefore very dangerous to anyone but the caster. Wearing iron or steel on one's body may reduce the risks of mana buring being triggered or at least mitigate the area affected and the amount of damage.
