My dear friend
It has been about two weeks since i last wrote to you. At the time, i was in Magui and about to continue south towards the sea of storms. Well, i am overjoyed to tell you that my ship and crew made it out with only light damages to out masts and sails. And yes, the title did not deceive you. I have found it. The kingdom of Asderaan. To tell you the truth, we continued south, along the storm island and across a large bay or gulf, i cannot say. But then, after rounding a large peninsula, we reached a large port city and we knew we had found it: The legendary Kingdom of Asderaan. We docked at the prot of this city, which they call "Desdora". The people here have welcomed us with open arms and generosity. They have supplied us with ample provisions for the last part of this voyage; making it to the the lands of Nefan. They also provided us the necessary materials for us to be able to make the necessary repairs on our ship. At the time of writing this letter to you, it has been two days since we docked here and we shall leave in 5, if the weather permits it.
Oh my friend, how i wish you could be here present with me so that you could see what i have seeing right looking out of the window. I know you love your native Vrahlis, and although i can attest to its beauty and splendor, this city, Desdora, is truly the most beautiful place my eyes have laid upon in my life. Any city in Arros would look like the ruins of Carethenga compared to a place like this.
However, all the things that i want to describe to you would take too long to write, and even knowing how much you love reading, i wont risk boring you. Words would probably not be able to tell you the true beauty of this place anyways. What i will say however, is that i wish i could stay here longer. But i do have obligations to you and the Guild, so do not fret. But i promise you, i will talk with your headmaster to see if he could let you accompany me when i return.
Now onto the part that may interest you the most as an Historian and linguist. The people here are of a darker skin complexion and speak a foreign tongue that is not too dissimilar to the Ak'aa peoples of Mahador. The writing system of this realm is composed of small images, which you would recognize as being similar to the old Darnian Hieroglyphs and are interpreted from left to right and top to bottom. A particular thing that i did notice was that, although the people here are rather numerous, they also all seem to be Magic Users. When we disembarked, a large number of them introduced themselves by showing off their abilities, which frightened us momentarily. They seemed rather disappointed when most of us didn't show any abilities. As someone who is a Windmage, and who studies the history of magic in our world, would you agree that this is highly unusual? I remember the first time we meet, you were not surprised that i wasn't a Soulmage, even if i was from Rumalia. Then, you explained to me that a large population with a majority of Magic users within it would be incredibly rare. But here, everyone ive seen and been introduced too have been mages of various types. I would love to hear what you make of this when i get back.
Also, the young lad Carlos, your Windmage friend that you insisted i bring with me, has turned out to be a great help in regards to sailing the ship, especially when we passed near the dreaded windward islands. He's also very popular with the locals, ever since he showed his magic abilities to them during those weird introductions. I asked Carlos earlier today why that was the case, but he is just as confused as i and the rest of the crew. It is rather comical however that a very shy person like him would end end as the most popular amongst the local population.
This is bad. I think my crew are all dead. I dont have much time to explains. i am currently hiding in a cave just outside the city. Its dark outside now. Something bad happened with Carlos, he wasn't himself anymore. He saw me and Esvan on the boat helping the ajax for its fight back, when Carlos came and pushed him out of his way. Esvan hit his head on He killed Esvan. I yelled at Carlos, which caused the rest of the crew to come running. I tried asking Carlos why he did that. Carlos kept saying that THEY dont want the outside world to know of their existence. he said WE. Like he was with these people now. The locals came and they tried to capture us, but i managed to jump off the boat and swim to this cave. I ran away. I think they let me run away. I hope not. I fell like a coward. i know i didn't stand a chance against all of them, but now Ill have to decide what to do next, the sun has set, and no moon is shining down tonight.
I have a chance to do something right. They do not want me to send this letter. I will do it anyways. The ajax is still on the boat, in her cage. I'll run to the boat, give her this letter, and let her fly back to Magui. People need to know about this place, not because of its beauty, but because its dangerous. I will probably die doing this, but if you receive this letter, then it was worth it. I hope the Spirit will allow us to see each other again in our next lives. I am scared but i trust in the spirit.
Sincerely, Rhsari
